Florence's Christmas market is a German-style Weihnachtsmarkt in Piazza Santa Croce in front of the basilica, with wooden chalets, German and Austrian specialities and Tuscan crafts (15 November - 21 December in the 2025 edition), free to enter. Visitors love the setting and the food from several countries, but critics find little real craftsmanship and prices above average. It is lovely for the atmosphere and a standing dinner, less so for handmade shopping.
