    Praised are the backdrop of the Cathedral and Town Hall and the high-quality crafts - more than just food stalls. At weekends it is very full, the parking situation is difficult, and some find the food prices extreme.

    One of the most atmospheric markets in the west - a classic also for visitors from the Netherlands and Belgium.

    Visitors praise the family-style, traditional character and the backdrop in front of the church; some find the market less commercial than central Aachen. Frequent criticism is crowding at almost any time of day and high prices - around EUR 10 for bratwurst with sauerkraut or mushrooms, mulled wine EUR 5-6. Some miss Christmas music.

    A cosy complement to the main Aachen market - if you avoid crowds, come early in the day.
