Canada Post answers letters to Santa, and the address is Santa Claus, North Pole, H0H 0H0, Canada. Its Santa letter program asks for letters by December 9, 2026, and no stamp is needed when you mail inside Canada. Below: the steps, a blank letter to print on Letter paper, and a free letter from Santa with your child's name on it. Nothing you type is sent anywhere: the name stays in your browser.

A free letter from Santa with your child's name

The templates that come up on Google are blank sheets for a child to fill in. This is the other way round: Santa writes back. Type the name (everything else is optional), choose the tone, the paper and the handwriting, then print it on Letter paper or download it as an image. It is free, there is no sign-up and no watermark. It does not travel by post: it is for you to leave by the tree, on the table or wherever your child will find it.

Santa Claus

Christmas 2026

Dear friend,

It has been a very busy year here at the North Pole. The elves are working double shifts in the toy workshop, Mrs. Claus has baked more gingerbread than even I can eat, and the reindeer practise their take-offs every evening.

I am very happy to tell you that your name is on my Nice List this year.

Remember to be kind, listen to your grown-ups. And leave a carrot out for the reindeer on Christmas Eve!

Love and hugs,

Santa Claus

P.S. The reindeer say hello — especially Rudolph.

Be specific: «the elves told me you helped your little brother learn to ride his bike» is a line a child reads twice; «you've been good» is forgotten at once. And don't promise the present: the letter says Santa has noted the wish, and the surprise is kept for Christmas morning.

Printable letter to Santa, blank, on Letter paper

This is the letter your child writes by hand. Fill in the name, age and town if you like, or leave everything blank. Only the sheet prints, not the rest of the page. In the print window choose Letter paper (8.5 × 11 in) and a scale of 100%. When it is written it can go in an envelope to Canada Post (see above for the address and the return address) or stay by the fireplace.

Leave the boxes empty if your child would rather fill them in by hand. In the print window choose Letter paper (8.5 × 11 in) and 100% scale.

Canada Post Santa letter program: address, deadline and stamp

Canada Post runs a Santa letter program: children write to Santa Claus, and Canada Post's page says Santa responds to all the letters he receives. Its 2026 text asks for letters to be sent no later than December 9, 2026.

The address is Santa Claus, North Pole, H0H 0H0, Canada. H0H 0H0 is Santa's postal code.

Canada Post says Santa answers more than a million letters a year, in 39 languages including braille, and that the reply comes in the same language as the letter. The page welcomes pictures and questions and has templates for younger and older children. It also has a separate page for letters from other countries and one for classrooms.

How to mail a letter to Santa in Canada, step by step

  1. Write the letter, or print the sheet above. Put your child's name and your return address inside the letter too, so Santa knows where to reply.
  2. Address the envelope to: Santa Claus, North Pole, H0H 0H0, Canada.
  3. Write your return address on the envelope. Canada Post asks for a return address so that Santa can answer.
  4. No stamp is needed when you mail inside Canada, according to Canada Post.
  5. Drop it in any Canada Post mailbox or post office by December 9, 2026. Posting earlier is safer.
  6. If you have several children, Canada Post's French page says to put all the letters of one family in the same envelope. We have not seen that line on the English page, so it is worth doing but not a rule we can quote in English.

Letters from abroad and what we could not confirm

Canada Post has a page called «International letters to Santa». Its content was not readable by our tools, so we do not repeat any rule from it (for example whether a stamp is needed from another country). Open it directly before you post from abroad.

We did not find an online form for writing to Santa on Canada Post's pages, and we found no promise of when the reply arrives. If you want something on the table on Christmas morning for certain, the free letter on this page needs no stamp and no waiting.

Dates: what is confirmed

2026
Letters to Santa: no later than December 9, 2026 (Canada Post, Santa letter program, checked October 5, 2026). No stamp is needed inside Canada.
Earlier years, for context
In 2019 the program's deadline was December 12 with the same address (Canadian Stamp News, November 2, 2019). In December 2024 Canada Post issued an «Update to the Santa Program»; we have not read it, so we do not describe it. Use these as background only: the 2026 date is December 9.

Address, deadline and rules checked on October 5, 2026 against the text of Canada Post's Santa letter program page (the page itself blocks automated readers, so we read it through search extracts; open the link under Sources to see it).

What to write in a letter to Santa

A good letter fits into five parts. It does not have to be long: it has to sound like the child.

  1. The greeting: «Dear Santa,»
  2. Who is writing: name, age and town. Put the full return address too if you want a reply.
  3. Something kind you did this year, with a real example.
  4. Two or three wishes, not the whole toy catalogue.
  5. A thank-you and a sign-off with your name.
  • Ages 4 to 6 (a grown-up writes what the child says)

Dear Santa, my name is Liam and I am 5. I helped tidy up my toys and I gave my cousin a piece of my birthday cake. I would really like a fire truck. Merry Christmas! Love, Liam.

  • Ages 7 to 9

Dear Santa, I am Charlotte, I am 8 and I live in Halifax. This year I learned to skate without holding the boards and I helped Mom look after our dog. Please could I have a paint set, an adventure book and, if there is room, a new pair of mittens. Thank you for last year's presents. Love, Charlotte.

  • Ages 10 to 12

Dear Santa, I am Noah, I am 11 and I live in Saskatoon. This year I tried hard to help at home and my math marks got better. I would like some headphones, but I know they are expensive, so anything you bring will be great. I would also like my family to stay healthy. Best wishes, Noah.

Lines to finish the letter

  • Thank you for remembering me every year.
  • The best present is having my family close.
  • I have left cookies and milk for you and a carrot for Rudolph and the reindeer.
  • I promise to keep helping at home next year.
  • Merry Christmas to you and to all the children of the world!
