Dear friend,
It has been a very busy year here at the North Pole. The elves are working double shifts in the toy workshop, Mrs. Claus has baked more gingerbread than even I can eat, and the reindeer practise their take-offs every evening.
I am very happy to tell you that your name is on my Nice List this year.
Remember to be kind, listen to your grown-ups. And leave a carrot out for the reindeer on Christmas Eve!

How to make it feel like it came from the North Pole
- Paper matters more than words. Thick cream or kraft paper, or card stock, instantly says “not from the school printer”. Print at 100% on US Letter.
- Deliver it strangely. Roll it into a scroll with red ribbon, tuck it into a stocking, or leave it by the empty cookie plate on Christmas morning.
- Add a trace of Santa. A sprinkle of glitter, a bit of “snow” (baking soda), or a sooty thumbprint on the envelope.
- Get the real postmark. Mail it through the USPS North Pole Postmark programme in Anchorage, Alaska — it arrives with a genuine North Pole, AK postmark. The steps are in the questions below.
- Keep one detail true. The good deed is the line a child reads twice. “I noticed when you helped your brother learn to ride his bike” beats “you were good”.
Santa's handwriting and signature
The letter is set in real handwriting fonts, not a typewriter face: an old quill copperplate, a flowing script and a quick pen that young readers find easier. Santa signs every letter in the same grand hand — Santa Claus — with a flourish underneath. Pick “My own words” to set any text you like in Santa's handwriting, or have Mrs. Claus or the elves sign instead.
A letter to Santa, for your child to write
Choose “Letter to Santa (blank)” for a printable template with lines to fill in: name, age, why they were good this year and three Christmas wishes. Put in the child's name and it is written in for them. Once it is done, it can go up the chimney, into the family mailbox, or to USPS Operation Santa.

- Is this letter from Santa really free?
- Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no paid upgrade. The letter is drawn in your browser, so you can print as many as you like or save them as PDF or image files.
- What does Santa's handwriting look like?
- Nobody outside the North Pole knows for sure, but the letters children treasure are written in an old-fashioned flowing hand with a big looping signature. We offer three hands — an old quill copperplate, a flowing script and a quick pen that is easier for early readers — and Santa's signature is always in the same grand script.
- How do I make the letter look real?
- Print it on thicker cream or off-white paper, roll it into a scroll tied with red ribbon or fold it into an envelope addressed in the same handwriting, and leave it somewhere Santa might: by the tree, with the stocking, or next to the half-eaten cookies on Christmas morning. A sprinkle of glitter or 'reindeer dust' goes a long way.
- Can I get a letter with a real North Pole postmark?
- Yes, through the US Postal Service. You write the letter from Santa yourself (this page does that part), put it in a stamped envelope addressed to your child, place that inside a larger envelope and mail it to North Pole Postmark, Postmaster, 4141 Postmark Dr, Anchorage, AK 99530-9998. The post office adds the North Pole, Alaska postmark and sends it on. For Christmas 2025 USPS asked families to mail by early December; check the USPS 'Greetings from the North Pole' page for this year's date.
- Where does a child's letter to Santa go?
- Letters addressed to 123 Elf Road, North Pole, 88888 go into USPS Operation Santa, where volunteers can adopt a letter and answer the wishes of children in need. In 2025 letters had to be postmarked by early December. Or print the blank letter to Santa here and 'post' it up the chimney or into the family mailbox for Santa's elves.
- What should a letter from Santa say?
- Keep it specific: the child's name, their age, the town Santa flew over, one real thing they did well this year and one gentle thing to work on. Mention the wish without promising it — Santa never gives away what is in the sack — and end with a P.S. from Mrs. Claus or Rudolph.
