Letter to Santa in India: free, printable, no sign-up, and a reply from Santa with your child's name
India Post has no letters-to-Santa programme, so there is no official Santa address in India to post to. This page gives you what does work: a blank letter to print on A4, a free reply from Santa with your child's name on it, and the one published Santa address in the world that Indian children can try, in Finland. Nothing you type is sent anywhere: the name stays in your browser.
- Print a letter to Santa ↓A ruled A4 sheet: your child writes who they are, what they did well and three Christmas wishes.
- Get a reply from Santa, free ↓Type the child's name and Santa's reply is made on the spot, in his handwriting. Print it on A4 or save it as an image.
- Is there a Santa address? ↓What India Post does not offer, and the Finnish address that is published.
A free letter from Santa with your child's name
The templates that come up on Google are blank sheets for a child to fill in. This is the other way round: Santa writes back. Type the name (everything else is optional), choose who signs, the tone, the paper and the handwriting, then print it on A4 or download it as an image. It is free, there is no sign-up and no watermark. It does not travel by post: leave it by the Christmas tree, with the stockings or wherever your child will find it on the morning of 25 December.
Christmas 2026
Dear friend,
It has been a very busy year here at the North Pole. The elves are working double shifts in the toy workshop, Mrs Claus has baked more gingerbread than even I can eat, and the reindeer practise their take-offs every evening.
I am very happy to tell you that your name is on my Nice List this year.
Remember to be kind, listen to your grown-ups. And leave a carrot out for the reindeer on Christmas Eve!
Love and hugs,
P.S. The reindeer say hello — especially Rudolph.
Be specific: «the elves told me you helped your little brother learn to ride his bicycle» is a line a child reads twice; «you've been good» is forgotten at once. And don't promise the present: the letter says Santa has noted the wish, and the surprise is kept for Christmas morning.
Printable letter to Santa, blank, on A4
This is the letter your child writes by hand. Fill in the name, age and town if you like, or leave everything blank. Only the sheet prints, not the rest of the page. In the print window choose A4 and a scale of 100%. When it is written it can stand by the tree or go in an envelope (see below).

India Post and Santa letters: what exists and what does not
We looked for a letters-to-Santa programme on the India Post and PIB sites (5 October 2026) and found none: no Santa address, no reply scheme, no posting date.
The nearest thing is a PIB release of 14 October 2022 for the Delhi Circle: special arrangements for Diwali, Christmas and New Year greeting mail, with the Christmas cut-off dates «21st December for other States, 22nd December for within State». It is about ordinary greeting mail, only for Delhi Circle, three years old, and not updated for 2026. It is not a Santa service.
So there is nothing official to post a child's letter to inside India, and we will not invent an address.
What you can do instead, step by step
- Write the letter or print the A4 sheet above, and keep it as a Christmas keepsake. Leave it by the tree on Christmas Eve.
- If you want a reply that is certain, make Santa's reply on this page: free, no sign-up, ready to print.
- If your child wants to post a real letter, there is one published Santa address in the world that we can point to: Santa Claus' Main Post Office, Tähtikuja 1, 96930 Arctic Circle, FINLAND (Posti, 2026). That is a Finnish post office, so it is an international letter: ask India Post for the postage and the time it takes, which we do not know.
- Do not count on a reply from Finland: Posti says all letters are sorted and opened, but only a few thousand children a year get a surprise reply (Posti, 2021).
Finland's Santa address and the paid letter
Posti runs Santa Claus' Main Post Office at the Arctic Circle. Its site (2026) says Santa receives almost 30,000 letters a day in the busiest season and has received almost 25 million letters from about 200 countries.
Posti also sells a paid letter from Santa (a button «Order a letter from Santa» on its page). We could not read its price, languages or last order date, because the page needs a browser to display, so we do not state any.
A free reply to every child is not promised by Posti. The reply made on this page is free and instant, and not from Posti.
Dates: what is confirmed
- India Post, 2026
- No letters-to-Santa programme found, so no date. The only dates are the Delhi Circle greeting-mail cut-offs of 2022 (21 and 22 December), which are not for 2026.
- When Santa comes
- Christmas Eve into Christmas Day, 24 to 25 December. That is the custom, not a rule of any post office.
Checked on 5 October 2026 on the India Post, PIB and Posti pages listed under Sources.

What to write in a letter to Santa
A good letter fits into five parts. It does not have to be long: it has to sound like the child.
- The greeting: «Dear Santa,»
- Who is writing: name, age and town.
- Something kind you did this year, with a real example.
- Two or three wishes, not the whole toy catalogue.
- A thank-you and a sign-off with your name.
Ages 4 to 6 (a grown-up writes what the child says)
Dear Santa, my name is Aarav and I am 5. I put my toys away and I shared my cake with my cousin. I would really like a fire engine. Merry Christmas! Love from Aarav.
Ages 7 to 9
Dear Santa, I am Anaya, I am 8 and I live in Kolkata. This year I learnt to ride my bicycle without side wheels and I helped Mummy look after our dog. Please could I have a paint box, an adventure book and, if there is room, a volleyball. Thank you for last year's presents. Love from Anaya.
Ages 10 to 12
Dear Santa, I am Rohan, I am 11 and I live in Chennai. This year I tried hard to help at home and my maths marks got better. I would like some headphones, but I know they are expensive, so anything you bring will be wonderful. I would also like my family to stay healthy. Best wishes, Rohan.
Lines to finish the letter
- Thank you for remembering me every year.
- The best present is having my family close.
- I have left a slice of plum cake for you and a carrot for Rudolph and the reindeer.
- I promise to keep helping at home next year.
- Merry Christmas to you and to all the children of the world!
Frequently asked questions
- What is Santa's address in India?
- There is none that we could find. India Post and PIB (checked 5 October 2026) publish no letters-to-Santa programme and no address, and we do not invent one. The nearest published Santa address is Finnish: Santa Claus' Main Post Office, Tähtikuja 1, 96930 Arctic Circle, FINLAND (Posti, 2026).
- Can I post a letter to Santa through India Post?
- India Post offers no Santa service that we found. You could post an international letter to Santa's Main Post Office in Finland (address above); ask your post office for the postage and the time it takes, which we have not checked.
- Will Santa reply to a letter from India?
- Not promised. Posti, the Finnish post, says all letters are sorted and opened and that only a few thousand children a year get a surprise reply (2021). A free reply with your child's name you can make on this page in a minute.
- How do I get a free letter from Santa?
- Make it here: type your child's name, choose the tone, paper and handwriting, and print it on A4 or download it as an image. It is free and needs no sign-up. It is not posted: you leave it for your child to find.
- What is the last date to post a letter to Santa?
- There is no date for India, because there is no programme. The only India Post dates near the topic are the greeting-mail cut-offs of the Delhi Circle for Christmas 2022 (21 and 22 December), not a Santa service and not updated for 2026.
- What do you write in a letter to Santa?
- Start with «Dear Santa», say who you are (name, age, town), tell him something kind you did this year, ask for two or three things and say thank you. A child who cannot write yet can tell a grown-up what to put, or draw a picture. There are examples by age on this page.
- Is there a letter to Santa template to print?
- Yes, above on this page: a ruled A4 sheet with a box for a drawing and optional name, age and town. In the print window choose A4 and a scale of 100%. It is free, needs no sign-up, and works well in class.
- When does Santa come in India?
- On Christmas Eve into Christmas Day, 24 to 25 December. That is the custom, not a rule of any post office.
- Does the reply made on this page come by post?
- No. The letter is built on your screen and you print it or download it; it is not sent, and what you type does not leave your device. Print it on thicker paper and leave it where your child will find it.
- Is it really free, with no sign-up?
- Yes. We do not ask for an email address, and there is no watermark and no paid version. Everything works in your browser and you can print as many letters as you like.
