Merry Christmas, family! The best place in the world is still around our table.
Wishing all of you a Christmas full of lights, laughter and second helpings of plum cake. So glad we have each other.

Write the card in four lines
Think of one specific thing. The rest can be short. A card with only a name looks like a mass forward; one personal line changes everything.
- 1
Address the person by name
“Dear Aunty Mary,”
- 2
Write something specific from this year
“Thank you for coming all the way to Kochi for Lena's school function. She was thrilled.”
- 3
Add a wish
“I hope you have a quiet Christmas, and that the trip you keep talking about finally happens in 2027.”
- 4
Close warmly
“Lots of love, the D'Souza family”
Sign-offs
- With love,
- Lots of love,
- Warm wishes,
- Warm regards,
- Best wishes,
- Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,
- Season's Greetings,
- Yours sincerely,
- God bless,
- Wishing you joy,
- From our home to yours,
- With prayers,
"With love" or "Lots of love" for family and close friends, "Warm regards" for colleagues and neighbours, "Yours sincerely" or "Season's Greetings" for clients and the boss (Sir, Ma'am), "God bless" for religious cards.
How to sign a Christmas card
Joint families, couples, single parents, pets, teams, new neighbours and respectful forms for elders. There is no wrong way, but some sound better than others.
Family
With love, the D'Souza family
Or all names: "Rohan, Anita, Lena and Leo". Adults first, then children from oldest to youngest.
Couple
Anita & Rohan
Order does not matter. With the same surname: "Anita and Rohan Fernandes" or "The Fernandes".
Single parent with children
Warm wishes, Dorothy, Max and Elena
You are a family. A row of names always looks right.
With the pet
With love, Arun, Priya and Bruno (woof)
The pet goes last. A little paw print next to the names never fails.
Team or company
Warm regards, the team at Sunrise Studio
For clients, add one real person's name so the card does not feel like a mass mailer.
New neighbours
Anita & Rohan, Flat 22, green door
The flat number helps new residents remember who you are.
Someone grieving
Thinking of you, Elena
Keep it simple, without the family photo and without cheerful stock phrases.
Elders and seniors
Respected Dadaji, / Dear Aunty Mary,
Use the respectful form (Respected, Dear Sir or Ma'am) for elders and the boss, and the first name for friends and colleagues you already address that way.
Quick answers: how to wish Merry Christmas
What is the best wish for Christmas?
The best wish is one that sounds like you and names something real: a thank-you, a shared memory or a hope for that person's new year. For example: "Merry Christmas! Thank you for the plum cake and the carol night. May the new year bring you health and good news." Above, you can pick a ready text by person and tone and add just that one line.
How do I wish someone Merry Christmas?
Say or send "Merry Christmas" to anyone who celebrates, and reply "Merry Christmas to you too" when someone wishes you. In person, the wish usually comes after midnight mass or when you arrive at a Christmas visit; on WhatsApp, a short line with the name works best. For friends, colleagues or clients whose faith you do not know, "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings" is the safe and warm choice.
How can I wish Merry Christmas in a unique way?
Make it specific. Mention the cake you baked together, the star you hung last year or the plan to meet in the new year, and add a touch of Hinglish if that is how you two talk, for example "Merry Christmas, yaar! Cake first, diet later." Under "Short Christmas wishes" and "Funny Christmas wishes" you will find lines that already do this.
How do I write best wishes for Christmas in a message?
Start with the name, add one thank-you or memory, then the wish, and end with a sign-off such as "With love" or "Warm regards". Keep WhatsApp messages to one or two lines; a card can take three to five.
How do I say Merry Christmas in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam or Bengali?
In Hindi: "मेरी क्रिसमस" or "क्रिसमस की हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं" (many also say "बड़ा दिन मुबारक"). In Tamil: "கிறிஸ்துமஸ் நல்வாழ்த்துகள்". In Malayalam: "ക്രിസ്മസ് ആശംസകൾ". In Bengali: "শুভ বড়দিন". Full wishes for every person are on this page in English, Hinglish and Hindi; the card maker draws Hindi, while Tamil and Malayalam are not on the card yet.
What do I say after midnight mass or on 25 December?
Keep it short and warm: "Merry Christmas! God bless you and your family." Within the family and on WhatsApp, add a name and one detail, such as thanks for the feast or a plan to meet soon. For a mixed group of friends, "Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays" covers everyone.
What to write in a Christmas card
What should I write in a Christmas card?
Four things are enough: a greeting with the name, one personal line (a memory, a thank-you, something from that person's year), the wish and a warm sign-off. The personal line is what stays with them; the rest can be short. Pick a ready text above and add just that line.
What are good short Christmas wishes for WhatsApp?
Choose the length "Short" in the generator and tap "WhatsApp": the text opens straight in your chat. Examples: "Merry Christmas! So glad you are in my life." or "Happy Holidays and a happy new year!" Starting with the name makes it feel personal.
Can I send Christmas wishes in Hinglish or Hindi?
Some of our wishes mix English with a few Hindi words in Latin script, such as "jaan", "yaar" and "aap sab ko bahut pyaar", the way many of us really text. For full Hindi in Devanagari, choose the tone "हिन्दी (Hindi)" and the card draws it correctly. Tamil and Malayalam are not on the card yet, because the card font does not support those scripts. Copy and WhatsApp work with any text you write yourself.
Where can I find Christmas wishes in Hindi (क्रिसमस की शुभकामनाएं)?
Pick the tone "हिन्दी (Hindi)" and then who the wish is for: family, husband or wife, parents, friends, children, colleagues, boss, clients, neighbours, someone far away or someone going through a hard time. Each has a short line for WhatsApp and a longer one for a card, all in Devanagari. Copy it, send it on WhatsApp or put it on a free card with the name of the person. No sign-up.
Can I make a Christmas card in Hindi?
Yes. Choose a Hindi wish, add the name of the person and your own sign-off, and download the card as a picture. The Hindi letters are drawn in the Noto Sans Devanagari font. You can also type or paste your own Hindi text into the message box. Everything happens in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.
What are the best funny or original Christmas wishes?
The ones that recall something only the two of you know: an old joke, a burnt rose cookie, last year's carol night. Choose the tone "Funny" and add your own line. One true detail beats any ready-made rhyme.
What is the difference between "Merry Christmas" and "Season's Greetings"?
"Season's Greetings" and "Happy Holidays" are warm and universal, and work well in multi-faith offices, residential societies and with clients whose beliefs you do not know. "Merry Christmas" and "Blessed Christmas" are tied to the Christian festival. The tone "Season's Greetings" in the generator has wishes without any religious reference.
What should I say on Christmas Eve or after midnight mass?
After the mass, the wishes are said aloud outside the church and at the Christmas feast, so a few heartfelt words are enough: health, peace, many more Christmases together. Choose the tone "Christian" or "Warm", keep one sentence and add something about that person.
Colleagues, boss and clients
What Christmas message should I send to clients and business partners?
Thank them for their trust, say what the association meant, and wish them a peaceful festive season and a good new year. Use a formal tone (Season's Greetings works for every faith), sign with a real person's name and not just the company, and if the office closes, say when you reopen. Keep advertising out of the wish.
What do I write to my boss at Christmas?
Thank them for something specific (their guidance, a chance you were given) and wish them and their family a good season. Use "Sir" or "Ma'am", keep humour careful, and do not mention salary, bonus or workload.
What should I write to colleagues at Christmas?
A few friendly lines: a specific thank-you, a wish for a good rest and your name. If you are not sure that someone celebrates Christmas, choose the tone "Season's Greetings", which fits colleagues of every faith.
Tricky cases
What should I write to someone going through a tough time?
Do not cheerfully wish them a happy holiday. Write that you are thinking of them, that this season can be heavy, and offer something concrete, such as a visit or a meal. Choose "Someone going through a tough time" in the generator. A short message is always better than silence.
Can I send a Christmas card on WhatsApp or email?
Yes, most people do. Make the card here, download the image and send it on WhatsApp or email, or share it straight from your phone. Nothing is stored on our servers and the card has no watermark.
Is the Christmas card maker really free, with no sign-up?
Yes. There is no account, no email and no watermark. The card is drawn in your browser and downloaded as a PNG, so it looks the same on every phone.
