Letter to Santa and Father Christmas: free, no sign-up, with the Royal Mail address and 2026 date
In Britain Santa and Father Christmas are the same man, and Royal Mail has its own address for him. Here is what Royal Mail publishes for 2026 (the address, the last posting date and the stamp), a blank letter to print on A4, and a free reply from Santa or Father Christmas with your child's name on it. Nothing you type is sent anywhere: the name stays in your browser.
- Royal Mail address and 2026 date ↓Where to post it, the last day Royal Mail names for 2026, the stamp and what to write on the envelope.
- Print a letter to Santa ↓A ruled A4 sheet, for Santa or for Father Christmas: your child writes who they are, what they did well and three wishes.
- Get a reply from Santa, free ↓Type the child's name, choose Santa or Father Christmas, and the reply is made on the spot. Print it on A4 or save it as an image.
A free letter from Santa or Father Christmas with your child's name
The templates that come up on Google are blank sheets for a child to fill in. This is the other way round: Santa (or Father Christmas) writes back. Type the name (everything else is optional), choose who signs, the tone, the paper and the handwriting, then print it on A4 or download it as an image. It is free, there is no sign-up and no watermark. It does not travel by post: it is for you to leave on the mantelpiece, by the stocking or wherever your child will find it.
Christmas 2026
Dear friend,
It has been a very busy year here at the North Pole. The elves are working double shifts in the toy workshop, Mrs Claus has baked more gingerbread than even I can eat, and the reindeer practise their take-offs every evening.
I am very happy to tell you that your name is on my Nice List this year.
Remember to be kind, listen to your grown-ups. And leave a carrot out for the reindeer on Christmas Eve!
Love and hugs,
P.S. The reindeer say hello — especially Rudolph.
Be specific: «the elves told me you helped your little brother learn to ride his bike» is a line a child reads twice; «you've been good» is forgotten at once. And don't promise the present: the letter says Santa has noted the wish, and the surprise is kept for Christmas morning.
Printable letter to Santa, blank, on A4
This is the letter your child writes by hand. Fill in the name, age and town if you like, or leave everything blank. Only the sheet prints, not the rest of the page. In the print window choose A4 and a scale of 100%. When it is written it can go in an envelope to Royal Mail (see above for the address) or be left by the fireplace.

Royal Mail Letters to Santa: address, last posting date and stamp
Royal Mail runs a page called «Letters to Santa» and, on it, gives one address for letters to Santa or Father Christmas. Its 2026 page asks for letters to be posted by Wednesday 9 December 2026.
On the page Santa says: «In between I will try and reply to as many of you as possible.» That is a promise to try, not to answer every child, and the page does not say when replies are sent or whether the reply costs anything.
The Post Office has a «Write to Santa» page too. The text still online on 4 October 2026 is dated 2025 («by 10 December 2025») and says Santa can reply in English, Welsh or Braille and replies to letters from 18 November. It gives the same addresses as Royal Mail and no 2026 dates, so treat it as last year's.
How to post a letter to Santa, step by step
- Write the letter, or print the A4 sheet above. Put your child's name and address inside too, so Santa knows where to reply.
- Address the envelope to: Santa/Father Christmas, Santa's Grotto, Reindeerland, XM4 5HQ. Royal Mail asks you to write it carefully.
- Put a stamp on the envelope. Royal Mail's page says the wish list needs «a real stamp» before it heads to the North Pole, and its checklist says to put a stamp on the envelope so it gets to Santa.
- Write your full name and address on the back of the envelope (also on the Royal Mail checklist).
- Post it by Wednesday 9 December 2026 at the latest. Posting earlier is safer: the page gives no date after which replies stop being possible, only this posting date.
Welsh, Braille, large print and BSL replies
For a reply in Welsh, Royal Mail gives this address: Sion Corn, Ogof Sion Corn, Gwlad Y Ceirw, XM4 5HQ.
Braille and large print replies can be arranged by emailing santamail@royalmail.com. The page marks BSL (British Sign Language) replies as new this year, arranged through the same email address. We have not tested the email address and cannot say how long a reply takes.
The page does not say whether Santa's reply is free. It asks for a stamp on your letter, so you pay the postage for sending it; for the reply it names no price. If you want a letter on the mat for certain, the free reply in this page's generator needs no stamp and no waiting.
Dates: what is confirmed
- Royal Mail, 2026
- Last posting date for letters to Santa: Wednesday 9 December 2026 (Royal Mail, «Letters to Santa», checked 4 October 2026). The page names no date for when replies start.
- Post Office, 2025 text still online
- «Reaches him by 10 December 2025»; Santa «will reply to letters from 18 November». These are last year's dates (Post Office, «Write to Santa», checked 4 October 2026); there are no 2026 dates on that page yet. Use them as a guide, not as dates for 2026.

What to write in a letter to Santa or Father Christmas
A good letter fits into five parts. It does not have to be long: it has to sound like the child.
- The greeting: «Dear Santa,» or «Dear Father Christmas,»
- Who is writing: name, age and town. Put the full return address too if you want a reply.
- Something kind you did this year, with a real example.
- Two or three wishes, not the whole toy catalogue.
- A thank-you and a sign-off with your name.
Ages 4 to 6 (a grown-up writes what the child says)
Dear Santa, my name is Alfie and I am 5. I helped to tidy up my toys and I gave my cousin a piece of my birthday cake. I would really like a fire engine. Happy Christmas! Love from Alfie.
Ages 7 to 9
Dear Father Christmas, I am Freya, I am 8 and I live in Bristol. This year I learnt to ride my bike without stabilisers and I helped Mum look after our dog. Please could I have a paint set, an adventure book and, if there is room, a netball. Thank you for last year's presents. Love from Freya.
Ages 10 to 12
Dear Santa, I am Oliver, I am 11 and I live in Glasgow. This year I tried hard to help at home and my maths marks got better. I would like some headphones, but I know they are expensive, so anything you bring will be brilliant. I would also like my family to stay healthy. Best wishes, Oliver.
Lines to finish the letter
- Thank you for remembering me every year.
- The best present is having my family close.
- I have left a mince pie for you and a carrot for Rudolph and the reindeer.
- I promise to keep helping at home next year.
- Happy Christmas to you and to all the children of the world!

- Is Royal Mail doing a Santa letter for free?
- Royal Mail's page asks you to put a stamp on your letter, so posting it is not free. The page does not say whether Santa's reply is free or what it costs, and it names no price for it, so we cannot say. If you want a free letter from Santa without waiting for the post, make one on this page: it is free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
- Does Santa reply to every letter?
- Not promised. On Royal Mail's page Santa says he will «try and reply to as many of you as possible». Include your full name and address inside and on the back of the envelope, and post early.

- Per Royal Mail: for Welsh write to Sion Corn, Ogof Sion Corn, Gwlad Y Ceirw, XM4 5HQ. Braille and large print replies can be arranged by emailing santamail@royalmail.com. BSL replies are listed as new this year, through the same email address.
- What do you write in a letter to Santa?

- Is it Santa or Father Christmas?
- Both names are used in Britain, and Royal Mail's address uses them together («Santa/Father Christmas»). On this page you can choose which name signs the reply and heads the printable letter.
- Is there a letter to Santa template to print?
- Yes, above on this page: a ruled A4 sheet with a box for a drawing and optional name, age and town, for Santa or for Father Christmas. In the print window choose A4 and a scale of 100%. It is free and needs no sign-up.
- Does the reply made on this page come by post?
- No. The letter is built on your screen and you print it or download it; it is not sent, and what you type does not leave your device. Print it on thicker paper and leave it where your child will find it.
- Is it really free, with no sign-up?
- Yes. We do not ask for an email address, and there is no watermark and no paid version. Everything works in your browser and you can print as many letters as you like.
