Monito Monita generator: draw names for your exchange gift
Add the names, keep couples apart, set the budget in pesos and the date, then send each person a private link by Messenger, WhatsApp or text. No sign-up, no email, and the names never leave your phone: each person's pair lives only inside their own link. Same game as Secret Santa, with no hat needed.
1 · Who's joining?
Or paste a list: one name per line, or separated by commas.
2 · Budget, date and rules
Who should not get whom?
Couples, siblings or last year's pairs. It works both ways: neither will get the other.
3 · Send everyone their name
How it works
1
Add everyone
Type the names or paste a list from the group chat. Name your exchange gift if you like; it shows on every link.
2
Set the rules
Choose a budget in pesos, the date of the Christmas party, a short note, and any pairs who shouldn't get each other, such as couples or siblings.
3
Send the links
Each person gets their own link by Messenger, WhatsApp or text, showing only the name they give to. Or print folded slips, or pass one phone around the room.
Monito Monita rules that keep everyone happy
- Agree the budget before the draw and stay within it. It is not fair when one person spends far more than everybody else.
- Keep the name secret until the party. If you need ideas, ask a close friend of your Monito or Monita.
- Use the note for what to avoid: allergies, no food, or no gift certificates if the group prefers an actual gift.
- Fix the date and how gifts are handed over, such as wrapped with a name tag and put under the tree.
- If someone drops out after the draw, the organizer redoes it from the backup link and everyone gets a new link.
Monito Monita: how the Filipino exchange works
Monito Monita, also called exchange gift, is a staple of Philippine Christmas parties at offices, schools and in families. Everyone draws one name; the person you draw is your Monito if male or Monita if female, and you give them a gift.
In many groups the exchange runs over several days instead of one. During the lead-up, the giver leaves small surprises for their Monito or Monita without revealing who they are, and the identity is revealed at the Christmas party.
Some groups add theme days or a wish list. A wish list simply means each person writes a few things they would like within the budget, and the giver picks from it, so no gift is wasted. Themes might be something like a colour, a type of gift or a style of wrapping, chosen by the group.
A budget agreed by everyone keeps it fair. Put it in the note so it appears on each person's link, and decide whether small daily surprises count towards the budget or are extra.
Because the draw works through private links, it suits groups spread across offices, schools and cities, or relatives working abroad, who can still join from their phones.
Questions about Monito Monita
- What is Monito Monita?
- It is the Filipino version of Secret Santa, also called exchange gift. Everyone draws one name and gives that person a gift, within a budget the group agrees, usually at the Christmas party.
- Is this generator really free, with no sign-up?
- Yes. There are no accounts, no email addresses and no phone numbers. The draw happens in your browser and each person's pair travels only inside their own link.
- How much should an exchange gift cost?
- That is for your group to decide. Type the peso amount into the budget box and it shows on every link.
- Can I stop couples or siblings getting each other?
- Yes. Add the pair under 'Who should not get whom?'. It works both ways, and if the exclusions make a fair draw impossible the tool tells you.
- Will the organizer see who has whom?
- Not unless they open someone else's link or the backup link. An organizer who wants to join in just opens only their own link.
- What if someone loses their link?
- Keep the organizer's backup link. It restores this exact draw so you can resend one person's link. It shows everything, so keep it private.
- Can we do it with a wish list?
- Yes. Write a short wish list into the note, or ask each person to share it in the group chat. The giver can pick from it without learning who has them.
- Can we do it online, with people in different places?
- Yes. Send each person's link by Messenger, WhatsApp or text. Agree a deadline and whether gifts are delivered or handed over at the party.
